Four $1,000 Grants Available to CNY Artists in Any Medium
At a time of limited arts funding when everyone in CNY needs to support the arts to keep them alive, the CNY Arts Covenant is holding a competition to design and create the rewards CNY Arts Covenant participants receive when they complete their four Arts Covenant agreements. There are four $1,000 grants available to artists in any medium.
Entries should capture what a covenant to support the arts might mean. The piece of art you design should capture what a covenant to support the arts might mean. As a piece of art it should remind arts supporters why the arts matter to them and to the CNY community. It might play with the idea of a “covenant” or with the transformative nature of the arts or reveal the importance of cultural and artistic diversity to the imagination. There are three competition categories:
One grant of $1,000 will be awarded to one artist for 50 pieces of art valued at @$20 each. Two grants of $1,000 will be awarded to two artists for 10 pieces of original art valued at $100 each. One grant of $1,000 for four pieces of original art valued at $250 each. Artists determine the value.
To enter submit a digital color photo/jpeg of the work to artscov@gmail.com. Include size in inches, name, address and phone number in the body of the email. A digital photo of a sketch of the work submitted is fine. Deadline: May 31st. Please indicate which competition category ($20, $100 or $250) you are entering. Artists can enter all three categories.
Decision Process:
The CNY Arts Covenant Working Group will decide the winners in each category by early June. The four wining artists will be notified by June 15th. The artwork must be completed by August 15, 2011, with one piece completed for display by July 30th.
